Lidia Li

Lidia Li is a community leader, nonprofit executive, and former financial systems professional with over 20 years of experience in business analysis, governance, and project leadership within Canada’s financial services sector. After immigrating to Canada, she experienced firsthand the challenges many newcomers face — navigating unfamiliar systems, overcoming language barriers, and rebuilding professional identity. These lived experiences deepened her commitment to strengthening community support structures and creating pathways for inclusion.

Lidia currently serves as President of the Multi-Ethnic Association of Red Deer, where she collaborates with diverse community leaders to advance cross-cultural initiatives, foster meaningful partnerships with government and nonprofit stakeholders, and advocate for programs that reflect genuine community needs. She is also the founder of the Central Alberta Chinese Culture Centre, where she promotes cultural education, youth engagement, and newcomer integration.

Her earlier career in financial institutions involved regulatory compliance, risk management, and large-scale system transformations, equipping her with strong analytical thinking, governance expertise, and strategic planning capabilities. She brings a disciplined, solutions-oriented approach to complex challenges while remaining grounded in compassion and collaboration.

Lidia believes advisory councils play a critical role in ensuring transparency, inclusive representation, and informed decision-making. She is committed to contributing thoughtfully and responsibly to help build a more connected, equitable, and resilient community for all.
