Flavia Campana Omori

My name is Flavia, a Brazilian psychologist who moved to Canada in 2019 in pursuit of a better future for my family. I arrived as an international student, bringing with me more than 25 years of experience as a Business, Human Resources, and Quality Management Consultant and Instructor.

After graduating in Canada, I had the opportunity to work at the same college where I studied. I began by supporting faculty and students with the Learning Management System, assisting in the development and enhancement of courses. I later transitioned to the International Education department, and since 2022, I have been working directly with international students, providing guidance on settlement and immigration matters after earning my RISIA designation.

Canada represents everything I hoped for in terms of safety and quality of life. However, as an immigrant, I have also experienced the challenges of integration, particularly in accessing community connections and equitable employment opportunities. Immigrants are often perceived as “different,” and at times undervalued, even though Canada is built on generations of newcomers.

Through my volunteer work with Red Deer Local Immigration Partnership, I am committed to supporting inclusive communities, promoting equity, and helping newcomers feel welcomed, respected, and empowered to contribute fully to Canadian society.
