Hello Red Deer community,
I’m Dieulita Datus-Hall your new programs manager at Red Deer Local Immigration Partnership. I would like to take a moment to introduce myself as well as your new communications coordinator Gordana Jovanovic. Gordana has called Red Deer home for over a decade, and she continues to enjoy it while I have called Red Deer home for just a year now and I am learning to enjoy it after moving from Lacombe.
Thirty days in this position and I am still meeting with residents, and plan to continue to build relationships with our stakeholders and center the voices of newcomers to our city. Gordana and I look forward to working closely with our agency partners to find innovative ways to build a more newcomer welcoming and inclusive community.
One of the reasons I accepted this position is my lived experienced as a child immigrant and wanting to create solutions. I am eager to meet more residents as well as agency representatives over the next few months.
I am looking forward to continue to build on the foundations of the team leader before with a special focus engagement of youth newcomers. Research continues to play a huge role in our mandate and we are building on top of the work that has taken place in previous and also looking for new areas of focus to take us into 2024. is a big part of what we do to figure out what the gaps are.
Prior to leading the incredible Red Deer Local Immigration Partnership team, I was a programs manager for a nonprofit which I founded along with my co-founder in 2020 and I am also a board member at Central Alberta Canadian Mental Health Association.
“One of the reasons I accepted this position is my lived experienced as a child immigrant and wanting to create solutions.”
My personal interests involve lots of family time, hiking, watching documentaries, taking care of my plants and cheering for my favourite sports teams and managing a healthy work-life balance.
Please feel free to reach out to me if you have questions or would just like to chat. I’m happy to share more about my role of leading the Red Deer Local Immigration Partnership team and I am excited to learn about the best ways that I can serve my community.
