Originally from Syria, Nassar and his family lived in Lebanon for five years before arriving in Canada in 2016 as refugees. They were uncertain of what their lives would be like in Canada at first, but he and his family have enjoyed living in Red Deer and have found it to be a welcoming community. However, finding employment has been a challenge for Nassar. Despite some challenges, Canada offers safety and the promise of good futures for Nassar and his children. He and his family are proud as two of his oldest children prepare to go to university and the whole family plans to move to a larger city so the family can stay together as his older children study
Originally from Ghana, Michael came to Canada to study and subsequently earned a master’s degree in economics. He and his wife gained permanent residency and after living in a small town in Saskatchewan for the first few years in Canada, the family moved to Central Alberta in 2017 for personal and professional opportunities. Michael works as a financial advisor while working towards gaining accreditation as a Chartered Financial Analyst. He and his wife are currently living and raising their two young children in a small town in Central Alberta.
